Frequently Asked Questions

What is Surestone® technology?

Surestone® is Deckorators’® mineral-based composite decking technology. It combines advanced plastic polymers with durable minerals and contains zero organic material, unlike traditional wood-fiber composites.

How is Surestone® different from standard composite decking?

Standard composites use wood fibers, which can absorb moisture and expand or contract with the seasons. Surestone® eliminates wood fibers entirely, giving it better moisture resistance, more consistent dimensional stability, and a more solid feel underfoot.

Can Surestone® decking be used near pools or water?

Yes. Because it absorbs virtually no moisture, Surestone® decking is rated for ground contact and submersion, making it a strong option for pool decks, docks, and other water-adjacent applications.

Does Surestone® decking get hot in the sun?

Surestone® is engineered with an infrared-reflective cap layer that reduces heat buildup compared to standard composite or PVC decking, keeping it more comfortable in direct sunlight.

How much maintenance does Surestone® decking require?

Maintenance is minimal. Routine cleaning is typically all that’s required, with no sanding, staining, or sealing.

Can Surestone® decking handle Minnesota winters?

Yes. Its mineral-based composition resists moisture damage and maintains dimensional stability through freeze-thaw cycles and cold-climate conditions.

Do you handle permits for Surestone® installations?

Yes. We manage all necessary permits and inspections when required.

Permits & Code Compliance

Every Surestone® deck we build is designed and installed to meet local Minnesota building codes. We handle the permitting process from start to finish, coordinating inspections so your project moves forward without delays or surprises.

Permit Applications Submitted

We prepare and submit all required documentation to the appropriate city or county office, ensuring accuracy and completeness from the start.

Code-Compliant Construction

Our team builds to Minnesota residential building code standards, giving you peace of mind that your new deck is structurally sound and inspection-ready.

Inspection Coordination

We schedule and coordinate required inspections so you don’t have to navigate the process yourself.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. FIVE STARS! We were lucky to find Ben and his team to build our new deck. Ben was an exceptional communicator from the get go with a keen on details. What impressed me most about working with Ben was his concern for getting every part of the project done right and ensuring I was satisfied with the progress. We worked his front office staff, Jessica, to coordinate payments and she was great. We had four other team members on site to build the deck, and all of them were very professional and worked hard. I received over a half Dozen quotes for my deck and Ben’s pricing came in average - I ultimately chose Ben and his team for his obvious attention to detail and thorough breakdown of pricing and process. I would chose Ben and this team again and highly recommend to anyone seeking a builder. (I will edit this post later with finished pictures.)

All the people I worked with from Construction Con Dios were very professional and detail oriented. They stayed on task all day - as opposed to taking phone calls.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ben and his team were great! They replaced our deck last year and knew we had a deadline for our son's graduation party. They stayed late several days leading up to the deadline, including the night before. Everyone who attended the party loved the craftsmanship and attention to detail. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Construction Con Dios LLC is top notch. Ben, Dave, Nikko and Dalton did a great job with our deck. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. The deck we wanted turned out better than we imagined and I don't think anyone else could've done a better job. Our neighbors even complimented on their craftsmanship and how detailed oriented they were to making sure everything was sealed properly to how the deck was tucked into the house to make it look like it's an extension of the house. We recommend them for your needs and will definitely be calling them back for our future projects.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I just wanted to give a shout out to Ben and his crew for putting on my new deck railing, deck stairs, and facia. It feels sturdy and blends in well with the existing floor, I am glad I added the picture frame and drink rail as well. I maybe should have added a little design in the floor. Ben you might need to show more pics of that.? If you zoom in close on the last pic, you can see the entire deck. Thanks again I love it.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ben and his team just finished our deck and we are so happy with the finished product. From start to finish, this was such a great experience. Not only were they all professional, they were also very friendly. Jessica designed the perfect deck, she listened to what we wanted and gave us everything and more. Everything was explained to us throughout the full process, in clear detail, so we were all on the same page. At the end of the project, they came to feel more like friends than just some random people building our deck (a deck that is so well built, it'll last 30+ year). We will definitely use Ben and his team again in the future if we do any more projects. Thank you for such a positive experience.
